What a great weekend! Spent a couple days at Iowa State attending Cyclone Hockey Senior Night. Tim and I got our 15 minutes of fame on the ice with Tony and we got to spend some good visiting time with our boys. We were missing our little girl, but she was there in spirit. The weekend was bittersweet for this mom as it marks our last parent’s night. We talked about the future but spent a great bit of time on the past. It was fun to reminisce about the incredibly fun ride we’ve had watching our four cuties the past 20 plus years.

Sports are just plain cool. They have been such a huge part of our family life. I am sure some may call us crazy, especially if we took the time to add up the hours, miles and money. But I prefer to think about the commitment, support, work ethic and character that my kids gained throughout the years. That’s the stuff that make the tears come for me. The teams, friendships, conversations and feeling of being a part of something bigger then yourself just can’t be measured.

By the end of the weekend we were talking about new cities, jobs, the future and. . . sport. I guess we just aren't ready to give it up. You may not see us in the rink or on a court but don’t worry you’ll be able to find the Uglems spending time and building character on a golf course somewhere. The more things change the more they stay the same.
